Unipart Dorman first introduced the notion of plug coupled signals as part of the Modular Signaling Innovation for Network Rail and since then, they have become the defacto termination for our ILS Integrated Lightweight Signals, Wayside Classic and SearchLITE series, available for North American and other global applications.
The plug coupler cable harness design for the signals allows for a very straightforward initial installation, whilst importantly minimizes test requirements which can be quite labour intensive if connections are changed at the standard AAR terminals. Plug couplers are to MIL 5015 specification, allow for various signal wire gauges, ensure fully weatherproof termination and are fully compliant with AREMA standards.
