The introduction of new Rolling Stock driven by Alternating Current Traction Motors, has resulted in Electro Magnetic Capability (EMC) issues with conventional signalling in the United Kingdom. This can delay the testing and launch of these new trains on key inter-city routes.  Park Signalling has developed a solution to minimise the effects of this on Solid State Interlocking (SSI) signalling systems.

Park Signalling’s Isolating Surge Protection Unit (ISPU-E) for SSI Data Links is an improved surge protection unit that incorporates a transformer to greatly enhance immunity to common mode surges and voltages. This protects the Data Link Modules (DLM) from displaying faults or even failing.

Over 500 hundred IPSU-E modules have been supplied this year, helping support the upgrade of the United Kingdom’s key inter-city railways.

Park Signalling’s ISPU is the only ISPU device with Network Rail approval (PADS no. 086/047164)
