Ian James Allison, Park Signalling’s Business Development Director, has been nominated and elected as a Trustee of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE) at the grade of Fellow. This was formally announced at the Annual General Meeting of the Institution in London on Friday 26th April 2019
Ian started his railway career by joining British Rail, London Midland Region S&T at Leicester in 1987. Ian’s experiences of working around the UK and on railway infrastructures in Switzerland, Germany and South Africa have very much influenced his managerial style within the UK. Ian’s Institution involvement, technical visits and convention attendance continues to contribute to his professional development.
An active committee member of the Midland and North Western Section since 2001, he served as the Chairman of the Section during 2005 to 2006 and 2018 to 2019. Ian was the founding Chairman of the Minor Railways Section in 2009.
Ian held the position of Editor of IRSE NEWS for the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers for 13 and a half years between 2004 and 2017, producing 143 issues of the magazine. He has previously served on the Council from 2008 to 2013, having been co-opted in the grade of Member.
Ian said “I am honoured to have been nominated and appointed to this position, representing the world-wide membership of the IRSE. I am looking forward to working towards the continued success of the Institution, the development of up and coming and future Engineers and to assist to embrace the challenges of the Digital age and Industry 4.0 as a combined industry”.
