We are delighted that Karen Beardsley, Managing Director of Unipart Rail Operations has been appointed as a board member of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP)
The 8 new board members will act as ambassadors for South Yorkshire, helping to support the region's businesses through the challenges presented by Covid-19, attract investment and promote the area on the national and international stage.
Karen said "I am extremely pleased to join the SCR LEP and be in a position to support the business and skills growth required to regenerate our region. It is even more important that we do this and rebuild our local economy to ensure our future generations have high quality jobs in our area."
The other appointees are Joe Chetcuti, director at Front Ideas; Michael Faulks, co-founder and chief technical officer at Ioetec Ltd; Dan Fell, chief executive at Doncaster Chamber of Commerce; Angela Foulkes, chief executive at Sheffield College; Paul Leedham, managing director at Matrix Energy Systems; Gemma Smith, managing director at Strata Homes; and Cathy Travers, managing director at Mott MacDonald UK and Europe.
Existing board members Alexa Greaves, Neil MacDonald and Richard Stubbs have all been re-appointed.
James Muir, chair of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, said: "With another national lockdown in place, this is an incredibly important time for the LEP to support people and businesses across South Yorkshire to get through Covid, recover and renew.
"We have an ambitious vision for the region as we drive forward work on our Strategic Economic Plan and our Renewal Action Plan to ensure the Sheffield City Region can build back better in the years to come.
"Our LEP Board represents the diversity of the region, and our new members are bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to drive us forward in supporting and investing in the people, employers and places of South Yorkshire."
