The British Columbia Ministry of Transport are piloting a new dynamic curve warning system using Unipart Dorman's directional LED Chevrons.
The directional LED chevrons are an enhancement to the already very successful steady burn LED Chevrons which we installed in Clinton, BC back in 2010 and have been deployed at numerous hazardous curve locations since.
The directional chevrons combine the steady burn LED visibility enhancement techniques for the driver with radar speed detection of approaching traffic. On the detection of unsafe approach speeds, a high intensity LED pulse will travel sequentially along the chain of steady burn chevrons, providing drivers with an additional targeted directional aid.
The technology has been installed at two curve locations and has been designed in such a way that if results prove to be as successful as expected, it can be very easily upgraded into other existing steady burn installations across the province.
We are delighted to have been selected for this innovative safety enhancement project, working alongside our partner - Inprotect Systems of Langley, a division of the ATS Traffic Group.
