Planning now for the ease in the lockdown to shorten leadtimes

Tags: Infrastructure Manufacturing Value - Increased Performance Value - Optimised Cost Value - Reduced Risk

During the lockdown we expect to see requirements for manufactured products fall away, but to peak when maintenance, projects and renewals rise again. To be able to respond to this we are now manufacturing materials that we know will be in demand - Signalling and Power Products - so that we can be ready to support the industry with the materials they need.

We are planning and stocking the materials now for when the lockdown is eased and project and renewals work picks up. We know that our customers in the infrastructure sector will have a lot of pent-up demand that we will need to be agile to respond to. By anticipating the market needs now, we can ensure that lead times don't hold up essential activities.

Barry Kennedy, Deputy Managing Director - UK Rail said "We are using our resource to plan into the future. The uncertainty around the lockdown is not helping with industry planning, but we are working to ensure that when demand from our customers picks up, we will be ready to serve them with short lead times and high availability of key equipment."

Steve Clayton, Manufacturing Director said "We have a very agile team in across our manufacturing sites, and whilst demand for some of our technology products has reduced during the lockdown we can use their experience to build value for customers on other complex manufacturing processes. We also have strict social distancing and hygiene practices in place to keep them safe."

If you want to discuss your future materials requirements now - and work to reduce the eventual lead-times - then speak to your usual Unipart Rail contact.

Improved Performance, Reduced Risk, Optimised Cost.
