Park Signalling have an industry wide reputation for innovation and expertise, in Railway Signalling and Control Systems.  Network Rail’s Safer Trackside Working Programme approached Park Signalling to design and build solutions to improve safety in areas signalled with SSI (Solid State Interlocking) and Relay Based signalling systems.

For relay based interlockings, Park developed the Relay Disconnect Device (RDD). For SSI, Park developed LEWiS (Lineside Early Warning System).

Both systems are being extensively trialled out on Network Rail infrastructure, with great success. This had led to Network Rail signing a Framework Agreement for the production and supply of these products, which will help improve track worker safety throughout the UK.

I am the Route Asset Manager (Signalling) East Midlands for Network Rail. I''d be very interested in some more detailed information on the LEWiS product. We are always looking for new and innovative ideas for improving safety, and this product seems to offer a good retro-fittable solution for a train-operated warning system for SSI areas. Have you got a product information brochure for LEWiS? How do you programme the trackside units and what is the rough cost?
