Unipart Dorman exhibited in the windy city at the annual AREMA Expo during September and came away with the wind very much in its sails.
The AREMA Annual Expo and Conference provided several days of committee meetings, technical sessions, keynote addresses and a myriad of breakout sessions on topics related to Structures, Passenger & Transit, Track, Engineering Services, Communications & Signals and Maintenance-of-Way.
On the Unipart Dorman booth, the team demonstrated its range of Wayside Signal Modules, including the SearchLITE and ColorLITE which have been developed to provide a reliable LED solution, utilising the same physical footprint as existing light units. This means that they can be used as an easily installed retrofit unit in a wide range of signal head types and interlocking systems across North America.
All module bodies are manufactured from precision cast aluminium with integral finned heatsink. Each module has an immersion proof breather vent and a mask fitted around each LED to reduce phantom effects, all protected by a polycarbonate outer cover which has a hard scratch resistant UV protective coating, reducing the damaging effect of ultra violet light.
These LED Wayside Signal Modules are simple to install using basic hand tools and provide a long, predictable service life allied to revolutionary optics, which have been specifically designed to maximise the light output without significant power consumption.
The Wayside Signal Module Series is equipped with a unique lamp out mechanism. Each module colour consists of 16 chains of LEDs, which are constantly being monitored. Should 5 of these 16 chains extinguish for any individual colour, the lamp out mechanism will be engaged and reported by the interlocking.
