RSSI 2018 Omha, Nebraska proved to be a successful few days for the Unipart Dorman team catching up with established industry contacts and meeting new potential customers.
During the show we promoted the new AREMA compliant Wayside Signal range which the team have developed specifically for the North America Railroad market. The goal for the new range of LED signals is to bring the same reliability, safety and performance benefits delivered to Network Rail over the past 18 years in our home UK market to our North American industry counterparts.
The WaysideColorLITE and WaysideSearchLITE module series are both fully compliant with AREMA C&S requirements and being the same physical footprint mechanically fit to a wide variety of incumbent Colorlight and Searchlight signal housings. The series is available in both free wire and MIL style plug and play versions, already tested and designed to be compatible with most interlocking controllers and does not require any software or circuit design modification to install.
Visitors to the booth were able to gets a ‘hands on’ experience of the signals and understand the technology that delivers such a reliable solution. The 5/16 demonstrator unit on display, very effectively illustrated the “Lamp Out” function of the modules which is a key feature for end users. This unique patented functionality incorporated into the design mimics the effects of a filament lamp failure in the unlikely event that 31% of the LEDs fail (or 5 of the 16 chains of LEDS).
