Unipart Rail and VolkerRail have been highly commended in the Cross-industry Partnership Working category, at this year’s Railway Industry Innovation Awards, held in London on Friday 23 June.
The commendation was received due to the collaborative efforts of both parties, which has led to the third fabrication facility being opened and the development of Unipart Rail’s UniTracePlus system. These facilities allow VolkerRail to pre-assemble all overhead line material, leading to just-in-time delivery and a high degree of traceability and material control to site, thanks to the newly developed.
Speaking on behalf of the project team, Stuart Birch, major projects director at VolkerRail said: “Our strong, collaborative relationship with Unipart Rail has enabled us to develop this forward thinking approach to overhead line fabrication. The team behind this idea have worked hard to ensure high results for both parties and having this recognised is a great achievement.”
Founded in 1998, the Railway Industry Innovation Awards are the longest-standing awards scheme in the industry and celebrate the achievements of companies and individuals who are pushing the industry forward by developing innovative ideas.
