Highest safety award for Unipart Rail!

At the British Safety Council Awards on 5th May, Unipart Rail was awarded a Distinction in the Transportation, Distribution and Storage category for our focused and structured approach to ensuring safety in our operations.

Duane Trower, our Logistics and Safety Director received the award and said "This is an award for the entire team at Unipart rail. We have worked hard to instill a message of safety first, every time, and this has made our sites some of the safest in the Unipart Group - and with other sites having received Swords of Honour in the past, we are thrilled that we are now in the top league."

He continued "We are now having our Doncaster, Crewe, Southport and Weedon sites audited for the BSC 5 Star rating - which will lead to us achieveing the Sword of Honour." 

Our work over the last year have resulted in:

• No RIDDOR at any Unipart Rail site for over 15 months
• 80% reduction in lost time injuries (2017 run rate v 2015)
• 40% reduction in minor injuries (2017 run rate v 2015)
• 64% reduction in minor damage incidents (2017 run rate v 2015)

Unipart Chairman and Group Chief Executive, John Neill CBE, said: “Receiving this global recognition is testimony to how we use the Unipart Way, to inspire our people to continuously improve the way we work. “Over the last five years, the British Safety Council have awarded Unipart with 33 Swords of Honour and 12 Globes of Honour.
