Unipart Rail have been awarded the Customer Focus and Collaboration Award by Siemens Rail Systems at their recent Supplier Recognition event.  This award is in recognition of the very close relationship that the two companies have to support the train maintenance activities of Siemens and in particular, the joint development to integrate a new asset management system into the Siemens warehouse at Doncaster over the past 2 years.

Siemens are in the process of introducing a series of new fleets that will double the number of vehicles supported in the UK.  This includes 60 new commuter passenger trains consisting of 1140 vehicles for Govia Thameslink.  As part of this major new fleet project Siemens have introduced a new asset management system, CORMAP, to support its 35 year maintenance agreement.  To facilitate the use of CORMAP a joint project was initiated between Siemens and Unipart Rail to identify the information and data requirements to support the new fleet.  Unipart Rail provided significant design, testing and integration of existing and new systems to enable the tight project deadlines to be achieved.

Unipart Rail and Siemens have worked very closely together for many years and currently have a 10 year agreement in place for the management and supply of parts to support the operation of the Siemens train fleet in the UK.  In the Doncaster offices of Unipart Rail, Siemens staff work alongside Unipart Rail’s team to provide over 99% material availability over the hatch in their 12 maintenance workshops.

Tom Johnstone, Finance Director from Unipart Rail said “As both companies are accredited to the Collaborative Working Standard BS 11000, the recent joint project illustrates the benefits of this truly collaborative approach and how the theory is translated in to practice.  We are very pleased to be recognised by Siemens for our strong customer focus values, which at Unipart, is integral to our business principles and is exemplified by the high level of support that many of our operational departments provide to Siemens on a daily basis.”

The recognition award by Siemens is for the vital support that Unipart Rail provide to maintain and enhance their operations and is indicative of the high quality support services that the Company provide to clients across the UK and in international markets.
