The new Unipart Rail and REAL Alliance Overhead Line Fabrication Facility in Doncaster opened on 13th July 2015.
At a ceremony attended by representatives from both organisations, a ribbon was cut to mark the official start to the building of fabrications for the REAL Alliance's work in upgrading the East Coast electrification.
This facility is a development of the Crewe operation which opened in June 2014 and which has proved to be crucial in the delivery of fully-fabricated assemblies for the Staffordshire Alliance upgrade on the West Coast.
Barry Kennedy, VolkerRail Commercial Director, said "We have created a brilliant collaborative relationship with Unipart Rail that enables us to concentrate on what we do best - the infrastructure upgrade - whilst Unipart supplies what it does best - supply chain and manufacturing."
