A New Modular Approach

Tags: Continuous Improvement Infrastructure Value - Innovation Plug and Play Signalling Supply Chain Supply Chain Management

In this month's Rail Infrastructure our approach to Modular Level Crossings has been featured.

In response to the Network Rail challenge for a modular railway, Unipart Rail continues to work in collaboration with the nominated level crossing contractors. As a result, there is now a complete facility dedicated to producing modualr level crossings.

At our Crewe site we have invested heavily in creating a dedicated service through the creation of its 'Modular Level Crossing Island' which brings together 'plug and play' concepts with in-factory testing, delivering the complete level crossing package of materials direct to trackside ready for installation.

'This is the culmination of years of development, approvals and creating a serivce which adds massive value to the industry'  said Les Hobson, Manufacturing Director, Unipart Rail . "We estimate that by reducing trackside testing of the equipment and making installation really straightforward we can remove significant costs".

Complete Kits
With around 1200 level crossings due to be upgraded over the next few years there are clearly a lot of materials that will need to be sourced. By providing a 'one stop' solution. We can ensure that the equipment is kitted, rather than having to source as separate items.
