On 5th May, we were very pleased to hand Dave Hughes a cheque for £628.22 - funds raised by colleagues at the Unipart Rail Crewe site for the CRY charity.
CRY was set up to raise awareness of Cardiac Risk in the Young following the tragic death of Dave Hughes' son, Daniel, who died unexpectedly in his sleep aged just 28. His post mortem returned Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) as the cause of death - which could could have been prevented if he had had an ECG test.
Sine the setting up of the CRY charity, a mobile screening unit has been established with a full team of medical personnel, as well as funding fast-track referrals for young people at risk.
Graham Jackson, Unipart Rail's Managing Director for Manufacturing said "The fundraising that's done by our teams here at Crewe is donated to a charity of their choice - and a combination of raffles, tombolas and other events has raised this cash to help continue the work in Dan's memory. We hope that this can help CRY continue save young lives."
