Unipart Rail are working closely with the Crewe Pledge, which aims to foster a collaboration between schools, colleges, businesses and organisations in the local area with a single aim in mind – to help young people with the transition from education into employment.
To support their excellent work, a Mock Apprentice Assessment Centre was held on Tuesday 16th February 2016 at the Unipart Rail site in Crewe.
The aim of the Assessment Centre was to support young people and help them to be more aware of what is expected of them through the process of finding employment and apprenticeships.
The agenda for the day included a presentation on Apprenticeships by Trevor Langston from Crewe Pledge, a group team building exercise, practice aptitude testing, a Q&A with current apprentices and a workshop, which included tips on what to expect at an interview and support with writing CVs.
Overall, the event was a great success. 13 young people attended from local schools and colleges and the feedback received has been extremely positive.
"Everything was excellent. The tower build exercise improved my teamwork skills - and our tower was the best! Overall the whole day was amazing"
"The Apprentice Q&A session was informal and I felt comfortable to ask questions. The CV and Interviewing Skills workshop gave good feedback and excellent points were given to improve my CV”.
We look forward to continuing our work with the Crewe Pledge and to supporting future events to help young people.
