Unipart Rail, as the leading Traction & Rolling Stock supply chain management business in the UK was one of a select few invited to the launch of Railsponsible in Utrecht on the 4th March. The event, hosted by the Dutch train operator, NS, included other major European operators such as Deutsche Bahn and SNCF as well as train builders, including Alstom and Bombardier

Railsponsible is an industry initiative focused on sustainable procurement, with the aim to continuously improve sustainability practices throughout the railway industry supply chain. This is an initiative for railway operators and companies across the railway industry value chain, along with key industry associations, that share its vision, mission and commitments.

The initiative aims to improve efficiency in the analysis of supply chain CSR practices, and to promote greater transparency to meet increasing stakeholder requirements. It also aims to improve environmental and social practices of companies through best practice sharing and capability building.

George Tillier, Managing Director, Unipart Rail T&RS, said "We were delighted that we were one of the few UK companies invited to this event. I firmly believe that this was recognition not only for our efficient management of the UK rail supply chain but also the wider commitment of the Unipart Group in CSR."
