Unipart Rail has become an industry leader in the deployment of collaborative working in the rail supply chain logistics sector and this have been evidenced with the recent certification to the BS 11000 Standard for Collaborative Business Relationships.

Unipart Rail already operated robust processes and governance structures that enable them to deliver value from existing relationships which will now be enhanced with the management of customer relationships with the implementation of the BS 11000 Standard framework.

The certified management system covers all of the customer engagement activities of Unipart Rail and is to be offered as a method of working together with their customers and in the future, their suppliers.

Unipart Rail worked closely with FirstGroup, who had themselves attained BS11000 accreditation in September 2012, to develop the processes and workflows required to have consistent, embedded and successful collaborative working arrangements between customer and supplier.

This close relationship has ensured that the benefits which the Standard delivers, were realised faster with FirstGroup and are now available to other collaborative partners.

“Working together with Unipart Rail on BS11000 has been very useful to create an environment that has built a greater level of trust between our two companies” commented Ian Grindlay, Group Procurement and Supplier Management Director at First Group.
