Integrated Lightweight Signal Post Lifting Winch

Following recommendations after a recent near fatality on the railway, nearly 70 people including installers/maintainers, testers and senior project engineers have taken part in the information sessions which include practical demonstrations on the Integrated Lightweight Signal Post Lifting Winch.

These sessions are extremely valuable to customers who are required to ensure that workers possess the correct information on how equipment works and how to operate it safely and it also gives the engineers on the ground an opportunity to speak directly to a representative from Unipart Dorman and ask questions (of which there have been plenty!)

Equally important during these sessions is the gathering of feedback from the end user, which ensures that Unipart Dorman understands the changing needs of its customers and helps to retain our market lead in providing cost effective LED signals.

A good example of how customer feedback has been translated into innovative features on a new product has been the development of the new Spring Assisted Lift Trunnion, which uses an internal triple rate spring and linkage to enable a wide variety of signals to be installed without using a post lifter.  This type of direct feedback ensured that new features such as an internal spring were incorporated and features which are very popular from the first trunnion type, such as carrying out all signal sighting activity at the base were retained.
