To overcome the issue of driver dis-comfort in the cab caused by air gaps around the light diffuser, Unipart Rail has designed an improved unit which has been successfully trialled and installed in a range of vehicles. The improved design incorporates a seal around the perimeter of the diffuser panel to eliminate the air gap. The diffuser panel is flame retardant, lightweight in construction and incorporates the light cover.
The panel fully complies with EN45545-2 Fire Standard and the R4 requirements for lighting components. The hinging of the fixing frame enable periodic inspection and replacement of the light fittings to be made in a simple and efficient manner and the design and construction materials of the new light diffuser can be easily adapted to fit other train fleets.
