Material Supply
It's not often that a blockade happens. The last one was during the remodelling of the West Coast route. And blockades have never returned the line to use at more than 50mph.
The Wigan to Preston blockade is the first to return a line to use at 80mph - and Unipart Rail played its part in the success through managing the supply of OHLE equipment on time, where required and when needed.
Other successes include:
- SAFETY: approximately 100,000 man hours worked with no incident or accident more serious than a cut finger.
- HANDBACK: Achieved on-time.
- COMMITMENT: All freight trains passed through as planned.
- TIMETABLE: All routes available and open to electric traction.
- WORK: All switch & crossing renewals done. Full yardage of plain line done.
