It's an economic benefit to reduce energy usage, but it's also environmentally sound. We've been working hard to reduce our energy usage and now the results are in, we're delighted to announce that 2016 was one of our best years for improvements!
Southport
Electricity - 1.8% reduction compared with 2015
Gas - 9% reduction compared with 2015
Water - 45% reduction compared with 2015
Crewe & York
Electricity - 8.5% reduction compared with 2015
Gas - 0.9% reduction compared to 2014
Water - 9.5% reduction compared with 2015
General Waste - 54% reduction compared with 2015
Wood - 57% more wood recycled compared to 2015
Doncaster
Water - 3% reduction compared with 2015
General Waste - 20% reduction compared with 2015
Recycled waste - 8% increase compared with 2015
Since March 2015, all general waste at our sites is not placed in landfill. All general waste is used for energy recovery.
Where we have had increases in energy usage, we are working hard to identify ways that we can continue to reduce our environmental impacts in 2017.
LED lighting Benefits
As part of our drive to lower energy use, we've also invested in new LED lights in our Doncaster warehouse, with positive feedback from to team there.
