When Alstom were planning to de-mobilise their Peterborough stores, they turned to Unipart Rail to manage the process.
It's worse than moving house - but the same principles apply: what to keep, what to sell and what to skip. And with our technical know-how, we assess all the materials to ensure that all that CAN be re-used are brought back into the supply chain and, where required, serviced or refurbished back into A1 condition.
In Peterborough, our team of 8 worked with an Alstom colleague to deal with:
-
230 pallets of materials
-
11 Artic loads of materials brought back into the supply chain
-
9 x 20yd skips of waste (separated into Electrical, Metal, Concrete and Mixed)
We managed to finish the process in just 14 days - handing the empty facility and cleared yard back to Alstom well within the targeted 22 days.
Rich Jackson, Unipart Rail Contract Delivery Manager, said "We often de-mobilise stores, and with such a vast range of materials it's good to be able to draw on Unipart Rail's wide knowledge to identify the materials - some of which can be very old or specialised that could be critical assets for the industry."
Olivier Quindos, Sourcing & Supply Chain Director at Alstom UK&I said "Unipart Rail worked closely with the Alstom Operations team to identify those materials that are recoverable and re-usable for future Network Rail schemes . Unipart Rail provided a safe and professional service which was delivered ahead of the agreed schedule".
