The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation have recently kicked off a field testing performance evaluation of the Posted Speed Limit VATCS in Allentown, PA.
Unipart Dorman were in attendance at the installation event of 2 new signs on Basin Street, supported by our local partner Traffic Calming USA and representatives from the City of Allentown, Penn DOT and McCormick Taylor.
The signs were initially set to run in stealth mode for a 2 week period to collect base line speed data. After the initial period, the signs were switched to active mode and the data will be collected fortnightly and at 3 month intervals, enabling evaluation of both the short and long term effectiveness of the signs and the impact they have on enhancing driver adherence to the posted speed limit.
